Apple I-pod Nano 5th Generation
Apple released its 5th generation of I-pod on September 9, 2009 with a few changes and it was welcomed by most of the people.
Features
- Larger 2.2” TFT Screen than 2” LCD screen on 4th gen
- Available at 8GB and 16GB versions
- Integrated video camera and FM radio and also a microphone.
- It included pausing a Live FM radio and also a pedometer for Nike+ I-Pod
- Comes in the colors like Silver, Black, Purple, Blue, Green, Yellow (Special Edition), Orange, Pink, Red.
- Better video quality than the previous gen I-pods.
- Same dimensions but 0.5grams lighter than the 4th gen
- FM radio reception and RDS functions are great.
- Recording voice memo at 128kbps AAC is decent.
- 24 hours of audio playback and 5 hours of video playback
- Has got a built-in speaker
Needs improvement
- The position of camera is awkward (lower bottom ) so there is chance of your hand to block the view while taking pictures
- There is no contrast or brightness control in the camera and result is bad indoor pictures
- No advanced EQ settings, if you need better audio use better headphones.
- The camera doesn’t have zoom and cannot take still pictures.
- Not more than 16GB of storage space.
Verdict
This is the best I-pod so far from apple. So if you can spend few extra bucks for the features such as video camera, pedometer and FM go for it.
Sandisk sansa Clip +
Flash memory maker Sandisk Released its MP3 player Sansa Clip + On August 31, 2009. It had a few extra features than the old Sana Clip but the dimension remains the same.
Features
- Available in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB versions.
- Cheaper than the other mp3 players.
- Micro SD card slot for expandable memory up to 16GB
- Built in voice recorder and FM tuner.
- Good audio quality without any distortion and also good Bass response.
- FM radio reception is better than the previous version.
Needs Improvement
- Poor battery life of just 15hrs
- Cannot play AAC format.
- Still 1” display as previous version which is small.
Verdict
Cheapest mp3 player available in the market and also with expandable memory. If you can’t spend more and need a compact player buy this.
Samsung Q2
Samsung released its MP3 player Q2. Here are some of its features, advantages and disadvantages!
Features
- Cheap when comparing to others in same range.
- 2.4” 320×240 LCD display that offers excellent clarity and color saturation and adjustable brightness.
- FM tuner with RBDS capability, auto scanning, preset modes, and a recording function.
- In built Microphone for voice recoding.
- Available in 16GB version.
Needs Improvement
- Cannot play AAC format
- No dedicated volume rocker buttons.
- Touch pad is not impressive.
- Batter life is average.
Verdict
This mp3 player is cheap and has got good screen and good FM radio with recording. If you are looking for simple and cheap Mp3 player go for it.
Creative Zen Xi-fi
Features
- Available in 8GB, 16GB and 32GB versions
- Has got FM radio and Voice recorder
- Good audio quality and EP-830 Headsets are awesome
- SD card expansion and WI-FI and USB 2.0 connectivity is also present
- Can play most of the audio formats
- 2.5” 320 x 240 TFT Screen
Needs Improvement
- battery life while listening to audio is not good
- The videos need to be converted to play in it
- Cheap plastic feel.
Verdict
It is also one of the cheap mp3 players with great features such as good bass boost and nice headset but the feel and battery life is not so good.
